Eric Cole. Steganography, Research Term Paper for Secure Information Systems at George Mason University. 1997. 33 pages.

As long as there are people that want to communicate, there will be the need for confidential communication - information that is meant for a limited number of people. How can someone guarantee that no one else can read the message, as it's being transmitted? How can someone guarantee that no one has modified the message, as it's being transmitted? How can someone guarantee that the message is really from who it says that it's from? These and other questions are at the heart of secret and secure communications.
